A new infectious epidemic (COVID-19) caused by a novel coronavirus began in China in early 2020. On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 epidemic to have grown into a pandemic.

The Finnish Food Authority is monitoring the situation and will update the guidelines and information relating to its field of operations on its website.
