EU Directives pertaining to ceramics have been implemented in Finland by Decree 165/2006 of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. It specifies limit values for the transfer of lead and cadmium (see table below). Ceramic products are in the Decree divided into three different categories. A process is ongoing in the EU to transform the Ceramics Directive into an EU Regulation. This will also involve lowering of limit values and specifying limit values for new metals.
