The Incidence of risk factors for exotic viral diseases in the Finnish poultry production

The goal of the project was to 1) identify and describe areas of importance for the spread of avian influenza and Newcastle disease in Finland 2) investigate the incidence of significant risk factors for the spread of avian influenza and Newcastle disease and contact networks in Finnish poultry production 3) examine the interaction of wild birds and poultry in the farm environment and the incidence of avian influenza virus and PMV-1 virus that causes Newcastle disease on poultry farms.

The results of the project will be used in contingency planning in poultry production and in a risk assessments of exotic viral poultry disease.
