The Year of Research-Based Knowledge 2021 is a national project implemented by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Academy of Finland and the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies in cooperation with organisations working with research data. The theme year’s programme consists of events and actions produced by organisations, and applying for the programme is open and continuous for the whole theme year. Various events, development projects and campaigns will take place both online and on-site.
The Finnish Food Authority participates in the Year of Research-Based Knowledge for example with a series of research seminars starting on 30 March 2021 (in Finnish), a Science Day and a Risk Assessment day (both in Finnish) and blog entries (in Finnish and in Swedish). We will inform you about upcoming events on our website and social media.
Scientific research is one of the statutory tasks of the Finnish Food Authority, and it is related to the agency's societal role and influence. Read more about our scientific research.
The Finnish Food Authority also participates in the activities of the Finnish Partnership for Research Institutes (Tulanet). "Tulanet participates in the theme year through various actions that describe the significance of knowledge produced by research institutes in our everyday life and in solving global problems," says Sanna Marttinen, the Executive Director of Tulanet in news published on the Tulanet website on 13 January 2021.
During the year, the Finnish Food Authority tweets about its research with the hashtag #RuokavirastoTiede21.
