18.1 Display of the Oiva report

To be taken into consideration:

The latest food inspection report shall be readily available on the food business operator's website or by other means. Other means may refer to the operator's social media channels or mobile phone application through which food is sold. In addition, the report must be displayed at the entrance of a food premises or another spot where the consumer can easily see it in the food premises where the consumer is purchasing food. (Food Act, section 16, subsection 3)

Matters to be controlled:

  • Display of the Oiva report
    • on a website or another easily accessible place
    • at the entrance to the food premises where consumers purchase food or in some other place that is relevant to the consumer
  • The adequacy and suitability of own-check activities and, where appropriate, the plan is controlled by applying the Annex to Guideline 1.6: "Adequacy and Suitability of Own-check Activities".

Excellent: Operations are in line with the requirements.Operations comply with requirements.

The latest Oiva report is displayed according to Food Act. regulations.

Good: There are small issues with the operations which do not impair food safety or mislead consumers.There are minor issues with operations. The issues do not impair food safety or mislead consumers.

There are minor shortcomings in how the latest Oiva report is displayed.

  • The Oiva report is only displayed on the operator's own website or sales channels OR the Oiva report is only displayed at the entrance to the food premises where consumers purchase food.
  • The Oiva report is posted but it is in a place where consumers cannot easily find or read it, or it is in an illegible condition.
  • The Oiva report is posted but in a size smaller than A4, or it does not match the original colour of the Oiva report.

To be corrected: There are issues with the operations which impair food safety or mislead consumers. The latest Oiva report is not displayed at all. The Oiva report is not displayed on the operator's own website or sales channels or in the food premises where consumers purchase food.

The displayed Oiva report is not consistent with the latest Oiva report issued by the authority which misleads the consumer.

Poor: There are issues with the operations which jeopardise food safety or considerably mislead consumers, or the operator has failed to comply with orders that have been issued. The grade given at the previous control inspection for the display of the Oiva report was “To be corrected” and the shortcoming found then in the display of the report has not been rectified.
