Third country degrees

Authorization as a veterinarian based on a degree that is from a country outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, i.e., a third country, requires supplementary studies and sufficient Finnish or Swedish language skills. This general rule applies to degrees completed by citizens of an EU or EEA country as well as others. However, there are exceptions to this general rule. Major exceptions to the general rule apply to some of the veterinarians who are already authorized as veterinarians in another EU or EEA country.

A degree is from a third country if it was begun before the nation’s accession to EU, or if it was completed after the secession of the country from EU.
