Indication of vitamins and minerals

The declaration of vitamins and minerals requires the provision of mandatory information in accordance with nutrition labelling. Nutrition labelling must indicate the amounts of vitamins and minerals and the percentages of the daily reference intakes. The reference intakes are set out in Annex XIII to Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

The vitamins and minerals to be declared must always be present in the food in significant amounts as follows:

  • Solid foods (per 100 g) and single-serving packages: at least 15% of the daily reference intakes
  • Beverages (per 100 ml): at least 7.5% of the reference intake for each day.

For more information on the subject, see Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Art. 9 and 29-35 and Annexes XII to XIV and on the Finnish Food Authority website.
