Handling and storing food at the correct temperatures reduces the growth of harmful microbes and lowers the risk of foodborne illnesses. Finnish Food Authority has published five practical videos to support temperature management in food premises.
These videos can be used as part of staff orientation training as well as own-check activities training. They provide clear and illustrative instructions for ensuring food safety and meeting legal requirements. The video series also supports food inspectors in their advisory work and helps guide food business operators.
Temperature control and monitoring are key elements of own-check activities in food premises
Monitoring and controlling temperatures is essential for ensuring food safety and preventing spoilage. Good temperature management includes regular monitoring and measuring of temperatures.
The videos published by Finnish Food Authority offer guidance on selecting the right type of thermometer and factors affecting measurement accuracy. They also provide instructions for conducting temperature checks during food reception, cold storage, and serving. The videos cover temperature recordkeeping and how to respond to temperature deviations.
