Seed quality analyses
The seed laboratory tests whether seed samples submitted for seed certification achieve the requirements of the Finnish Seed Act and the subsequent Decrees by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The laboratory conducts following seed tests: seed purity and other seed determination, thousand seed weight, moisture content, germination and detection of loose smut of barley (Ustilago nuda).
Seed laboratory (FI01) of Finnish Food Authority is an ISTA accredited laboratory. ISTA certificates can be issued by the laboratory.
The laboratory also performs seed quality testing of farm saved seed, raw seed lots from the seed packers and seeds of vegetable crops.
