Finnish Food Market Ombudsman

The Food Market Ombudsman acts to improve the functioning of the food market and to prevent practices that violate good business practices. The Ombudsman issues recommendations, opinions and proposals related to the functioning of the food supply chain and informs and advises actors in the field on good business practices. In addition, the Ombudsman monitors the contractual terms and practices in the food supply chain and the implementation of good business practices.

The Food Market Ombudsman is an independent and autonomous authority whose activities are regulated by the Food Market Act. The Act entered into force at the beginning of 2019. The Food Market Ombudsman is a member of the administrative branch under the auspice of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Olli Wikberg, Doctor of Laws and Master of Laws with court training, serves as the Ombudsman.
