The epoxy derivatives that food contact materials contain are regulated by regulation (EY) 1895/2005. The use of BFDGE and NOGE is completely prohibited in contact materials.
The regulation applies to plastics, surface coatings and adhesives but not to containers or tanks with a capacity of > 10,000 liters
BFDGE and NOGE are prohibited
BADGE limit value for migration 9 mg/kg and
BADGE-HCl limit value for migration 1 mg/kg.
The amounts of these substances should be below the limit values and this must be demonstrated in the declaration of conformity and supporting documents.
