If the animal transporter does not possess the animal transport authorisation specified in the animal transport legislation, the transporter must register as an animal transporter. The notification must be submitted if the animals are transported to/from Finland and the transporter does not possess the animal transport authorisation specified in the animal transport legislation. The notification is required if ungulates or poultry are transported in a private capacity, or if cats, dogs or ferrets are transported by private individuals for commercial purposes.
The notification can be submitted using e-service. The link can be found at the bottom of this page.The processing of the notification is subject to a fee, more detailed information on the price can be found in the Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, section 17 of the appendix. The registration notification shall be done well before the trip, for example two weeks in advance, so that the registration can be entered in TRACES before the trip. Once the notification has been registered, one will receive an email confirmation.
Changes should be reported with new notification, if
- there will be a change in transport operations (for example, in vehicle types or animal species)
- transporting animals to/from Finland will be stopped.
A new notification must be submitted and the same contact details must be entered in the new notification as in the first one. Any changes shall be reportered well in advance of the next trip so that the up-to-date information can be entered in the authorities’ system.
