Controlling colibacillosis in the production chain of poultry

Aims:

The aim is to obtain information about the characteristics of APEC strains and their distribution in different production stages and whether there are differences between the strains with regard to their pathogenicity and effect on production figures. Additionally, the conditions and treatment practices as well as the significance of predisposing viral diseases will be investigated. This information will be used for identifying factors predisposing to or protecting from colibacillosis that are present in production and in the environment. This is a prerequisite for any preventive action to be taken. The objective is to bring the APEC problem into control and to return the first week mortality (FWM) of broilers to the same level as before 2013.
