The state's regional government will be reformed at the turn of the year 2025‒2026. Regional State Administrative Agencies’ tasks related to animals and food will be transferred to the Finnish Food Authority. In connection with the change, the site may have flaws in the first few days of January.

Meal replacements for weight management

As of 20 July 2016, meal replacements for weight management are mainly fortified foods. Meal replacements can also be ordinary foods, depending on their content. 

The manufacturer or the importer of the meal replacement shall verify that their product meets the requirements laid down in legislation.

  • Labelling shall comply with the Food Information Regulation.
  • Only authorised nutrition and health claims referred to in Claim Regulations may be used in marketing.
  • The Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 establishes the authorised health claims for meal replacements for weight control
  • If vitamins or minerals are added in the product, the requirements of the Fortification Regulation shall be complied with.
