The health effects of a diet are determined by its components which is illustrated in the food-based dietary guidelines with pyramid and plate models. A diverse and varied selection of food ingredients enables the composition of health-promoting, environmentally sustainable and tasty meals and snacks.
Based on the publication Sustainable Health from Food – National Nutrition Recommendations 2024, food-based dietary guidelines will be drafted for different target groups, such as pregnant and breastfeeding women, children and families with children, as well as early childhood education, school and student dining, and for the older people and hospital patients. The central goal of the national nutritional recommendations is to improve the health of the population. A nutritionally adequate diet in accordance with the recommendations can be composed in several different ways at the individual level.
